The effect of light quality on anther culture of Citrus clementina Hort. ex Tan.

2005

This pre lim i nary re search re ports re sults on the in flu ence of light qual ity on an ther cul ture of Cit rus clementina Hort. ex Tan., cultivar Nules. Af ter one month of cul ti va tion in dark - ness, four light quali ties were tested: White, Red, Far-Red and Blue. Con tin u ous Dark ness and White light un der photoperiod of 16 hrs were used as a con trol con di tions. Ga metic embryoids and embryogenic cal lus were ob tained only un der photoperiodic con di tions of White light, sug gest ing that the al - ter na tion of light and dark can be used for the pro cess of ga - metic embryogenesis in Cit rus.

Energy saving and user satisfaction for a new advanced public lighting system

2019

Abstract The retrofit of urban lighting systems is often an advantageous means of achieving notable energy savings and improvements in the quality of light. User habits, expectations and lifestyle can contribute to the design of these systems, for example in deciding on the most appropriate control strategies or the light quality. The influence of such variables can be extended to the overall system performance. This paper presents a method of street lighting design based on two kinds of analysis carried out in a defined test area: measurements (by means of a monitoring study) and user preferences (by means of a survey). The results of this data analysis create the basis for the final desig…

Correlative Analysis of the Photosynthetic Capacity and Different Components of the Photosynthetic Apparatus

1984

The majority of higher plants is able to adapt to the ecological factor light in a wide range. Depending on the light intensity and the light quality during growth, plant with an equal genotype develop into so-called low light and high light forms. The photosynthetic adaptation to different light conditions involves complex, balanced changes of many leaf features. The changes of physiological factors of photosynthesis includes differences in the CO2 conductance, in the Calvin cycle enzymes, the capacity of electron transport, the photophosphorylation and the pigments (Boardman, 1977; Wild, 1979; Bjorkman, 1981; Lichtenthaler et al., 1981). The adaptation of individual plants or leaves to lo…

Winter and summer analysis of daylight characteristics in offices

2014

Abstract This paper reports a comparison of the results of daylight measurements carried out in summer and winter in three offices, with different exposures and characteristics, located in Naples (Italy). The aim was to extend and enrich the findings of a previous study which reported the results of summer measurements about desk illuminances and circadian impact. The research project includes measurements carried out in other seasons and a comparison between measured and software simulated values with the final goal of developing design guidelines. This research confirmed that the spectral distributions and CCTs of the light reaching the eye of a person seated at the desk in these offices …

Daylighting offices: A first step toward an analysis of photobiological effects for design practice purposes

2014

Abstract The research presented in this paper reports an analysis of daylight in three offices with different exposures and characteristics located in Naples (Italy). The goal was to fully investigate daylight characteristics, also considering the circadian impact of daylight entering these offices, with the hope to develop guidelines to better assess daylight quality in built environments. One of the main findings of this research is that the spectral distributions and CCTs of the light reaching the eye of a person seated at the desk in these offices are similar irrespective of the offices' different characteristics (dimensions, surfaces' spectral reflectances, external obstructions, etc.)…
